Lightning Network Ring of Fire Project

Stackchain community members are some of the most convicted Bitcoin Maximalists that exist. They buy bitcoin, they earn bitcoin, they donate bitcoin, and they facilitate the world's best payment network by building the Lighting Network.

No one wants to miss out on the fun. No one wants to miss out on participating in the next item that we're stacking. Our latest project is stacking Lightning channels.

To participate, all you need is a Bitcoin and Lightning node. Stackchainers are building nodes from Umbrel, MyNode, RaspiBlitz, RaspiBolt, and more. No matter your flavor, there's a spot for your node in our next Ring of Fire.

What is a Ring of Fire?

The Lightning Network is based on cooperation, but more often than not, you do not know whom you're connecting to and channel openings are often one sided and confusing. To build a stronger Lightning Network and Stackchain community, we are connecting Lightning nodes together in a ring-like fashion.

Benefits of participating in a Ring of Fire

  • Providing support to one another

  • Gaining incoming liquidity

  • Increased node viability and connectivity

  • Acting as a "Super Node" together, routing payments

How do you build a Ring of Fire?

  • all nodes together create a closed circle of channels

  • each node opens one channel to the next in a clockwise manner

  • all channels within the ring are of the same channel size

  • ideally nodes of higher capacity connect to nodes with lower capacity to distribute capacity along the ring

  • channels within the ring are either ALL public

  • all nodes are reachable through TOR

  • nodes do an initial circular rebalance via an igniter script
